Pickles came to live with us on 6th August 1993. We went to the Cats Protection League shelter to find a cat, but it was a case of her choosing us rather than us choosing her. She fell in love with Stuart at first sight so we had to take her home with us.

She settled in very quickly and ruled our house ever since. From time to time she brought a mouse into the house and unfortunately they sometimes escaped from her and find somewhere to hide. Once a mouse ran over my foot, and another set up home in a cupboard. We only knew it was there because it chewed a hole in a bag of food. We put a trap down to catch it, but the trap disappeared. Sadly, it seems the mouse was caught in it but was able to run away with the trap attached to it.

We couldn't imagine what our house would be like without Pickles but sadly over Christmas 2002 she stopped eating and was eventually diagnosed with feline aids and had to be put to sleep.

We had not intended to replace Pickles quickly but a friend at church knew of this cat that was looking for a home and so Mosaic came to live with us on 22nd January 2003.

Mosaic is a champion cat whose full name is Champion Shwechinthe Mosaic. She is a Birman who has been used for breeding and showing but is now in official retirement having been neutered. Having been around many other cats she now was showing signs of wanting to be an only cat. Presumably she knew this was the way to more wholehearted pampering.

Mosaic is a long hair cat and leaves fur everywhere. Consequently Stuart's pet name for her is Fluff.
